If I had £50 To Spend, What Would I Get (2 Teenagers On Work Experience)

During work experience week, we were tasked with the challenge of going onto Rose Dancewear to see what we, as teenagers, would buy on the website (budget of £50). First, we went through each section of the website paying close attention to the leotards and Capezio ribbed sets as that’s what we wear most and are comfortable in at dance. Next, we started listing down what we found appealing to our own personal tastes. Then we narrowed it down to create an outfit that was not only in the price budget, but also which we thought was trendy and what we could see other teenagers dancing in.

Anna’s Choice

When looking on the website, one thing that caught my eye almost instantly were the Capezio seamless ribbed shorts which sell for £16.00. These shorts are available in two colours; nude and green, I decided to with the green as I think it would go nicely with the top I picked. These green shorts are perfect for dance conventions, dance classes or even lounging about; they are really that comfortable! They are very versatile; I have never seen anything like them before on the market making them completely unique and are a staple for every dancer’s wardrobe.

The next item I chose was the Capezio mock neck top that sells for £14 on the website. These have just arrived at Rose Dancewear, so don’t miss out on your opportunity to buy them before they are all gone! They are in a range of different colours (pink, blue and white) and I decided to choose the white top. I loved this top as it was super comfy and wasn’t like the regular sports bras that I have worn before. You can also wear it both ways, either as a turtleneck (with the zip at the back) or an open neck top (zip to the front). Its a very versatile top and I would wear mine not only to dance but to parties and for lounging around the house.

Lastly, I chose the Bloch Proflex leather pink split sole ballet shoes. I really liked these ballet shoes as the criss-cross elastics are already sewn on, meaning that I did not need to attach the elastics myself. I found that the mesh in the middle of the shoe gave my feet incredible range of motion and it allows your feet to breath. These shoes would be perfect for long dance classes and dance competitions when you want to be comfortable in your shoes. The only issue I had was the sizing of the shoes, I am a size 4 and got a size 4 but I found that they were a bit small so if you where to buy these shoes I would size up.

Rose’s Choice

In contrast to Anna’s choice, I decided to go for something you could wear in the studio. I already have several pieces in the seamless Capezio range, as it is so comfortable and easy to wear. However, I had never tried a leotard from this range on. Capezio’s seamless ribbed camisole leotard £20 can be tied in a number of different ways. The straps can wrap around your waist then tied at the back or side. They can just be tied at the back, or they can be threaded through the other straps at the back to make a more intricate pattern. Personally, I liked tying the straps at the back, so I could get a clean look on the front of my leotard. The only minor issue I discovered was that the straps are quite long which may leave you wondering what to do with them so just have fun and experiment with different styles. One of my favourite qualities of the leotard is that its very figure hugging. This is a great quality to have as it makes you feel confident and most importantly it’s flattering on all body types!

Secondly, I chose Bloch's Black Blochsox £19. These socks are incredible, the tight fit makes you feel very secure in them as you do not feel they are going to slip off your feet. They have extra grips on the soles, so you won’t slip and fall at dance and have a spin spot to help with your turns and added arch support which make your feet look great. The socks feel very high quality and I believe every dancer should have a pair.
